We are hoping to run off road rides similarly to this more regularly, led by club member Gavin Broadhurst. The ride we did on 8th Septmeber started from Cilcain car park (CH7 5PA) at 9am heading toward Keegan’s lane descent, before looping round and climbing onto Moel Dywyll and over to Moel Famau forest. After that there was a climb back up toward Moel Dywyll before a fast descent back to Cilcain. The ride was just over 30km and had around 970 meters of ascent with a mixture of double and single track, and there were points to cut the ride short if we needed to due to weather. A mountain bike was the best-suited for the route, but all parts of this route had been done on gravel bike so accessible if you don’t own an MTB.
As always, pace was social, it’s about enjoying the views and having some fun offroad. We were very lucky with the weather that day.
