Races and Time Trials
The club organises a number of time trials and races throughout the year which are organised in accordance with the rules and regulations of the relevant governing organisation, for example Cycling Time Trials (CTT), British Cycling and TLI. Chester Road Club is a CTT and British Cycling affiliated club. Some time trial events do not require additional individual registration so you are able to turn up and just pay on the day as a member of the club, however our open events (such as our 25TT) require prior sign up. TLI and British Cycling races require a race licence/membership (taken out annually, but you can buy a day licence if just starting out and would like to try a few event before committing to a full licence).
The club has its own handicap points competition for members and points are awarded for the Hilly 14 and Saighton/Farndon 10 club events to determine the winner of the Eureka Shield. The club also has medal standard times over the various distances for time trialling which you can use as benchmarks for progress. All medals and awards are presented at our Annual Awards Dinner.

Costs
Costs to enter TTs and races vary greatly, from £5 to enter our club 10 mile TT to around £25 to enter a British Cycling race on the open road where car/motorbike escorts and other safety logistics are required. Licence/membership fees are in addition to TT/race entry fees.
Helmets
Helmets are compulsory for all Club time trials and those races where the rules and regulations of the relevant governing body apply.
Marshals and Timekeepers
Marshals are put in place to improve safety of an event by increasing awareness for other road users, all events expect riders to be self aware of the course and the route. You must obey any instructions given and the timekeepers decision is final! Marshals are an important and necessary requirement for club racing and time trials. Without them the club cannot promote or organise events. As a club member, you are requested to volunteer your time and marshal one of the club events each year. Giving up a couple of hours once a year to help out ensures we can continue to function as an active cycling club.
